Photos by Molly Finnegan_ * Activists poured out gallons of molasses during a summer party at the Tate Britain on Monday to protest the museum’s 20-year alliance with BP, via ARTINFO. * The state of California hopes to raise $40 million for arts programs by issuing special license plates, via the Los Angeles Times. * Two Canadians were detained for stealing railroad spikes from the Holocaust memorial site at Auschwitz, via the Associated Press. * A painting by Caravaggio that was stolen two years ago from a Ukrainian museum was recovered in Berlin when authorities caught the theives trying to sell it, via Reuters. * In Oslo, a planned public art park that will “celebrate women” has caused some concern over the concept and the way women will be depicted, via the Art Newspaper. Meanwhile, a city-approved plan to erect a statue of Michael Jackson in a park in Prague is being protested by thousands of Czech citizens, via the Associated Press.
