Guggenheim Foundation’s BMW Guggenheim Lab opens Wednesday in New York. “Part think tank, part open-air forum, part community center….Its goal is to engage New Yorkers in discussions about urban living,” via the New York Times. * “Rembrandt and the Face of Jesus” debuts Wednesday at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The exhibition of more than 50 works by Rembrandt van Rijn and his pupils includes a group of oil paintings of Jesus that have not been seen together since they left Rembrandt’s Amsterdam studio in 1656, via the Associated Press. * An art installation by Mideo Cruz that mixes imagery of Jesus with pop culture and includes a crucifix with a movable penis has set off an uproar in the Philippines, via Reuters. * Footage from a lost silent movie featuring work by Alfred Hitchcock has been discovered in New Zealand. It was the first film that the 24-year-old Hitchcock worked on, via the Guardian. * Claims that Swedish author Stieg Larsson wrote a fourth novel are off the mark, his partner Eva Gabrielsson told BBC Radio 4’s Woman Hour.
