But when his father died from hospital-acquired infection, Goldhill was spurred to research the health care industry from top to bottom. What came out of that study was his proposal to abolish our current insurance-based system entirely, in favor of a new, “consumer-driven” health care system that he says would provide better care at a lower cost.
