Obama Touts Health Reform’s Benefits

President Obama made a pitch for the benefits of health care reform on the eve of the law’s six-month anniversary Wednesday. The president spoke to a small audience in a suburban backyard in Falls Church, Va., just outside Washington, D.C. He was surrounded by people who will benefit from some of the new provisions that go into effect Thursday, such as a ban on lifetime benefit limits and a ban on unfairly revoking coverage for those who become sick.

The renewed focus comes as polls show public support for the law sagging ahead of the November midterm elections, and the president said he bears some of the blame for that.

“Sometimes I fault myself for not being able to make the case more clearly to the country,” he said.

He also responded to GOP campaign promises to repeal the new law. Watch an excerpt below:
