More than 100 members of three gangs were arrested Wednesday in Harlem, New York in the largest-ever gang bust in New York City’s history.
According to WABC, approximately 400 law enforcement officers raided two city-run housing complexes that the gang members were operating out of. Authorities executed nearly 30 search warrants in the operation, according to the New York Police Department.
The bust followed the ongoing investigation of the murder of Tayshana “Chicken” Murphy, an 18-year-old girl who was shot in 2011. She was murdered in a Harlem public housing building after an evening of fighting between gangs in neighboring buildings.
Two gang members have been convicted with Murphy’s murder, and others have been arrested in connection with two other murders and 20 other shootings.
