Bill Cosby to stand trial for criminal sexual assault

Bill Cosby will stand trial on sexual assault charges after a judge determined Tuesday there is sufficient evidence to bring the comedian and actor to trial.

Cosby’s arraignment is set for July 20, when he will enter a plea, and a trial date will be set, according to the Associated Press.

The case stems from an alleged incident in 2004 when then-Temple University employee Andrea Constand reported to police that Cosby drugged her and penetrated her with his fingers at his home in suburban Philadelphia.

Cosby said in a statement to police that was read in court that it was consensual sexual activity.

Cosby could be sentenced to 10 years if convicted.
