Black Friday spreads to Europe and one company marks up product with success

• Black Friday chaos appears to have spread to European shores this year. The AP is reporting that a woman was injured in a shopping crush in N. Ireland at a supermarket chain owned by Walmart. According to the Telegraph, a woman in Belfast “was being treated for a suspected broken arm after being caught up in a stampede of impatient rival shoppers who had been queuing since the early hours for Asda to open”.

• Pope Francis weighed in on the shopping holiday with a statement released this week that reminds readers that markets are composed of individuals, economic decisions have human consequences, and it is important to protect the downtrodden during capitalism’s advancements. Bloomberg News reports.

• The popular party game Cards Against Humanity has quite a black friday “deal”. The $25 game will be marked up to $30. Founder Max Temkin tweeted “Good luck to all my friends working retail tomorrow. I’ll be doing my part by not buying anything.” Although Temkin was surprised to learn that his game was the number 1 best selling game on Amazon, even with the marked up price:
