Ireland at a supermarket chain owned by Walmart. According to the Telegraph, a woman in Belfast “was being treated for a suspected broken arm after being caught up in a stampede of impatient rival shoppers who had been queuing since the early hours for Asda to open”. Pope Francis weighed in on the shopping holiday with a statement released this week that reminds readers that markets are composed of individuals, economic decisions have human consequences, and it is important to protect the downtrodden during capitalism’s advancements.
