A volcano that caused mass evacuations in eastern El Salvador is staying active Monday.

The Chaparrastique volcano, located just under 90 miles east of the country’s capital San Salvador, continues to produce more ash and gases; El Salvador’s environment ministry confirmed via Twitter. The volcano erupted hot ash into the sky Sunday, forcing more than 1,600 people to evacuate the area and relocate into emergency shelters.

No major injuries or damage have been reported, Reuters reports, though possible damage to the region’s coffee plantations is being examined.
