The police issued a statement to CNN saying staffers should “shelter in place” in their own office or the nearest office. The statement said gunshots have been reported on Capitol Hill. It urged staffers to “close, lock and stay away from external doors and windows.” As we reported Monday there are limited staff and police authorities in place at the Capitol due to the government shutdown. PBS NewsHour will live stream scenes from the Capitol as well as any press conferences that may take place regarding the report of gunshots being fired around Capitol Hill. We're not going anywhere.
