Residents in the surrounding neighborhood called to report gunfire around 6:30 a.m. CDT. The gunman has not been identified but, according the police department’s Twitter page, the suspect was a lawyer who lived nearby. Interim police chief Martha Montalvo told reporters during a press conference that the shooter may have had issues with his law firm. The bomb squad searched the shooter’s vehicle where authorities said they recovered additional weapons. Law enforcement officials also planned to search the suspect’s apartment, located near the shopping center in southwest Houston. The gunman was reportedly well-known to police. Total of nine persons injured One in critical at Memorial Hermann Hospital. One serious at Ben Taub Suspect is deceased. The remaining victims were treated at the scene for injuries to their extremities related to shattered glass from windows shot by the suspect. Montalvo declined to say whether the shooting was an act of terrorism. The Houston branch of the FBI has offered to help the Houston Police Department with its investigation.
