Calcutating Twitter’s average revenue per user, Quartz found that looking at your timeline once would earn Twitter $0.0008 (in the second quarter of this year). That means they earned 55 cents in advertising revenue per user. Facebook, by comparison, earned an average of $1.41 in advertising revenue per user over that time. The average-revenue-per-user figure was not among the numbers Twitter revealed in its IPO filing with the SEC Thursday. Quartz notes that the average earning is probably slightly higher than their calculations indicate because only 85 percent of Twitter’s revenue comes from advertising; 15 percent comes from data licensing.
