Police on Tuesday have stormed one of the main protest camps in Ukraine’s capital Kiev, the Associated Press reports. Protesters have gathered in the city’s Independence Square for weeks now, calling for the government to step down from power and demanding new elections be held. Hundreds of thousands of protesters have stormed the streets of the Ukrainian capital in recent weeks, upset that the country’s president, Viktor Yanukovych, walked away from a deal with the European Union on Nov. 21 after warnings from Russia.
