Have you ever walked out of a store and realized that you’ve forgotten your wallet or your keys? Well one lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you look at it) customer walked out of a shop in Spain and left behind a 4.7 million-euro ($6.3 million) lottery ticket.
Somebody bought the ticket in the northern city of La Coruna but lost it in the shop, the Associated Press reports. After failed attempts to track the winner down, the city is now making a public plea for the buyer to step forward.
Authorities are not revealing where the ticket was bought or the time of purchase. They plan to interview prospective fortune seekers so that they can determine whether he or she is telling the truth.
The winning number was drawn on June 30, 2012, but the city just this week released an official notice about the missing ticket on its website. The owner has two years to claim the prize or the jackpot will go to the person who found the ticket.
