Astronaut Frank Culbertson was the commander of Expedition 3 on the International Space Station when the attacks happened. He said he saw a “big cloud of debris” over New York City. When he realized what had happened, he reported from the ISS, “We flew past New York City and saw the effects of the attack on that city.” He said it was like seeing, “a wound in the side of your country, family, and friends.” We're not going anywhere.
