Democrats claim 300,000 jobs will be saved, but Republicans say the government shouldn’t be spending more than it has. SEC. GATES PROPOSES MILITARY SPENDING CUTS| Secretary Robert Gates announced a proposed plan of cutting 2800 military and civilian employees. The Pentagon budget has doubled over the past decade due to the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Gate’s goal is save $100 billion, but some political leaders are critical including Democratic senators Mark Warner and Jim Webb.
