U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates, wrapping up a visit to the Afghan capital, suggested that U.S. forces might start leaving the country ahead of schedule. As he left, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran arrived in Kabul for talks with Afghan officials, and he used the opportunity to blast U.S. policy. Judy Woodruff reports on a day of comings-and-goings. TERRORISM ALLEGATIONS: Gwen Ifill examines the case against Colleen LaRose, the woman from suburban Pennsylvania who has been charged with using the Internet in an attempt to launch a home-grown terrorism plot. CLIMATE SCIENCE: The United Nations announced today that one of the world’s leading scientific groups will review reports compiled by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The announcement comes amid ongoing public debate about climate change, and the science that may lie behind it. Jeffrey Brown has our report.
