SHIELDS AND BROOKS – NewsHour regulars Mark Shields and David Brooks debate what the president must do to regain momentum for his agenda and the Democratic Party. TOYOTA RECALL – Nearly two-thirds of Toyota’s product lineup in the U.S. is in limbo over a safety scare. Judy Woodruff gets details from Jessica Caldwell, a senior automotive analyst with Edmunds.com, a consumer website. AIG BAILOUT – Two of the leading architects of the government’s response to the financial crisis testified on capitol hill today: both the current and former Treasury Secretaries got an earful from Democrats and Republicans about their role in the bailout of insurance giant AIG. Congressional Correspondent Kwame Holman narrates a report. FEDERAL RESERVE STRATEGY – The Federal Reserve announce that it plans to keep interest rates at a record low level for an extended period of time. Economics Correspondent Paul Solman examines that strategy. STRUGGLE IN HAITI – Finally, Ray Suarez describes the scene in Haiti, where the U.N. estimates that up to one million children lost parents during the earthquake and hundreds of thousands still struggle to simply exist.
