As the company brews up a coffee for the lucky individual, it appears they are also making a brew out of the recipients’ personal data, the Washington Post reported. The program requires both the gifter and the giftee to have Twitter accounts to make the transaction and in order to utilize the tweet-a-coffee both parties must allow Starbucks access to those accounts, including the ability to post tweets. In addition, the user buying the gift must also register at Starbucks.com, sharing further user information, such as location, friends, purchase history and frequency as well as phone ID, with the company.
