A suspect in the stabbing died after being shot by police. The stabbings occurred at approximately 8 a.m. local time in front of the Classroom and Office Building on the UC Merced campus. Three victims were treated on campus and two were transported by a helicopter to a hospital, according to a statement from the school. Not all of the victims were students. The school has closed campus and canceled classes for the remainder of the day, and advised people to avoid coming to campus. Update: Campus police report suspect shot & killed. 5 students have been treated for stab wounds. Campus remains closed.
