Brian Krebs has uncovered many of the major data breaches that have made headlines recently, including the one on Target last year that compromised tens of millions of credit cards. He is a former Washington Post reporter who now runs the site Krebs on Security. He has also written a book, out today, called, “Spam Nation: The Inside Story of Organized Cybercrime — From Global Epidemic to Your Front Door.”
Krebs sat down recently with Jeffrey Brown to discuss his book. In this online exclusive he talks about navigating the underground world of cybercrime and how it’s similar to reporting on crime in the “real” world. He also looks at who exactly buys spam products, why they buy them and what happens to their information afterwards. Finally, he explains why going completely off the grid is probably impossible.
