Thousands of commuters stranded by electrical outage in Connecticut

Connecticut residents who use the Metro-North train line to commute woke up to a big headache Wednesday morning. And it’s not going away anytime soon.

A problem with a Con Ed feeder line early Wednesday halted train service from Stamford, CT to Grand Central Terminal in New York City. WTNH reported thousands of commuters were stranded at stations along the line. Later in the day, diesel-powered trains began making one trip an hour from Stamford to Grand Central. Service is also delayed in the other direction from Stamford to New Haven.
Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy held a press conference at 4 p.m. EDT, Wednesday where he told commuters to plan on long-term lack of service or being underserved, according to the Connecticut Mirror. The governor told people to telecommute for the next couple of days if possible.

According to Malloy, Metro-North is the busiest rail line in the United States. He pointed out that power outage happened in New York.
