Help us translate President Obama’s 2014 State of the Union address

If you read or write in a language other than English, the PBS NewsHour needs your help. Join our all-volunteer captioning and translation team — 1,000 members and counting — to help us translate President Barack Obama’s 2014 State of the Union address and the Republican response from Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers of Washington.

Powered by the translation platform Amara, the NewsHour hopes to make these important moments more accessible for people who are deaf, hard of hearing and for non-English speakers.

Last year, the PBS NewsHour team translated Obama’s speech into several languages, making the video more accessible for both national and international audiences.

Following Obama’s speech at 9 p.m. ET, the we’ll post the video of the State of the Union to the Amara site, where you can start translating and captioning the president’s vision for his final three years in office.
