U.N. report confirms chemical weapon use

A newly released report from the United Nations gave the first official confirmation that deadly sarin gas was used in Syria on Aug. 21, but did not say who used it. The report says the use of chemical weapons is "a grave violation of international law." " Read the full report.

The Obama administration has insisted the Syrian government used the chemical weapons on its own citizens, and is contemplating a military strike in response. In the meantime, it is working with the Russian government on a compromise solution that would put Syria's chemical weapons under international control and work to get rid of them.
