The part of Healthcare.gov that verifies applicants’ personal information crashed Sunday, due to a network failure, Time magazine reports. House Republicans and Democrats will get a chance this week to seek answers for the glitchy rollout of the online federal insurance exchanges during hearings Tuesday and Wednesday with Marilyn Tavenner, administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

Former Murdoch media moguls go to trial for 2011 phone hacking charges
Former editors at News of the World Rebekah Brooks and Andy Coulson are two of the defendants that go to trial on charges of phone hacking and bribing officials. The charges come in wake of the 2011 scandal when it was revealed that journalists at the now shutdown News of the World were eavesdropping on voicemail messages of celebrities, politicians and other public figures.

Report reveals NSA spying in España
Spanish newspaper El Mundo reported Monday that the NSA spied on 60.5 million phone calls in Spain in just one month, based upon papers obtained from former NSA contractor Edward Snowden.

England, Western Europe brace for deadly hurricane-force gusts, storms
The AP reports that at least four people have already been killed after a storm with 160-kmph (99 mph) hit Southern Britain, the Netherlands and parts of France. The storm has stopped air, train and ferry travel and has caused flooding and power outages.
