What we’re watching Tuesday

Good morning! From our coffees to yours, here is what we’re watching this a.m.

  • The 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly kicks off this morning. President Barack Obama will give the first speech and French President François Hollande, King Abdullah of Jordan and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani are expected to speak today, among others. You can watch the speeches on our livestream beginning at 9 a.m. EDT.
  • The deadly al-Shabab standoff at a shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya, is in its fourth day. The attackers say hostages are still alive and militants are “holding their ground.” We spoke to Kenya’s foreign minister Amina Mohamed on the show last night.

We’ll bring you updates for these stories and more throughout the day.
