House Republicans will gather at 2 p.m. to figure out their next steps for what kind of legislation goes to the House floor for a vote. House Democrats are meeting at 2:30 p.m. Democrats have been sending around this 1995 clip of then-Rep. John Boehner putting some coal in a box for then-President Bill Clinton in the middle of their shutdown standoff. Boehner, now the speaker, has said he wants to avoid a government shutdown and is blaming the Senate for a delay as the clock ticks toward midnight.
