Rick Perry made a big splash Sunday night when he made his Iowa debut as a presidential candidate in Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann’s childhood hometown of Waterloo. The Black Hawk County Republican Party sold out the Electric Park Ballroom (where Bachmann says her parents went dancing when she was a child) for its annual Lincoln Day fundraising dinner. The event gave local Republican activists the opportunity to hear from former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and Bachmann, and to participate as guinea pigs of sorts as the first audience to hear from Perry in the ever-important first-in-the-nation state.
