Dems Target Outside Ad Spending; Nevada Senate Race Heats Up

In this week’s Political Checklist, Judy Woodruff and David Chalian explore the Democratic Party’s decision to make a major issue of the political advertising coming from pro-Republican groups, particularly groups that are not affiliated with the official GOP.

Woodruff tells Chalian that the effort to attack groups like the GOP-friendly U.S. Chamber of Commerce is aimed at motivating the Democratic base to vote in November.

“Is that an issue that motivates people to go to the polls?” Woodruff asks.

Woodruff also discusses her upcoming reporting trip to Nevada, where she will cover the Senate race between Harry Reid and Sharron Angle and other political headlines this week, some three weeks to go until Election Day.
