Political Checklist: President’s Economic Comments Under Scrutiny

In this week’s Political Checklist, I chatted with senior correspondents Gwen Ifill and Judy Woodruff about how President Obama’s remarks about the economy Friday continue to be fodder on the campaign trail.

Gwen noted that some politicians’ comments seem to resonate longer than others, and we observed that many voters aren’t yet tuned in to the political chatter that will surely dominate by this fall.

We also looked ahead to the Arizona special election and how the results might reflect on the president and the Democrats. Judy pointed out that everything takes on broader implications in such a hotly contested election year.
