Widow of Missouri Governor Tapped

Carnahan died in a plane crash last week, but his name remains on the ballot. Missouri’s new governor said Monday he will offer the seat to Carnahan’s widow if Carnahan gets more votes than Republican Sen. John Ashcroft on Election Day.

Acting governor Roger Wilson said he spoke with Jean Carnahan on October 24 and she said she was undecided about accepting the appointment.
