Another individual, La Nae Bellamy, has launched a write-in campaign as well. Since there are two seats in The North Pole City Council up for election this year, both Claus and Bellamy are running uncontested. Voters will need to write their names in on a ballot during council elections on Oct. 6. Claus previously held the position of North Pole Chamber of Commerce president, according to the Associated Press. A free press is a cornerstone of a healthy democracy.
