Since someone turned on the humidity in the D.C. area this past week, I figured it might be time to get their opinions on a couple of books on presidents that you might want to check out this summer. None other than President Bill Clinton wrote a review of Robert Caro’s fourth volume on LBJ: “The Passage of Power.” David Maraniss also has a new book on the way about President Obama: “Barack Obama, The Story,” which includes access to parts of the president’s ex-girlfriend’s diaries and correspondence. Vanity Fair has published excerpts. Shields and Brooks weigh in on whether it should be written about. In our section on the politics of sport, you don’t have to know much about baseball to appreciate how dominant pitcher Mariano Rivera of the Yankees has been.
