WATCH: Bondi says there will ‘never be an enemies list’ at the Justice Department

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., questioned U.S. attorney general nominee Pam Bondi in a confirmation hearing Wednesday held by the Senate Judiciary Committee.

He asked Bondi, a former courtroom prosecutor and later Florida’s attorney general, if she had ever had an enemies list.

She said no.

He then asked if she would have hired someone into the Florida attorney general’s office whom she knew had an enemies list.

Bondi said she’d “cut to the chase” during Whitehouse’s questioning and defended Kash Patel, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to lead the FBI. Bondi said Kash has done 60 jury trials as a public defender and prosecutor, and “I believe Kash is the right person” to lead the agency.

Whitehouse asked if Bondi would enforce an enemies list Kash had announced in a television interview.

“There will never be an enemies list within the Department of Justice,” she said.

Bondi is a former Florida attorney general and has been a longtime ally of President-elect Donald Trump. This is the first of two hearings the committee has scheduled for the nominee.
