WATCH: Biden discusses Build Back Better agenda, infrastructure deal

Taking a campaign swing through New Jersey to promote his big domestic policy bill, President Joe Biden painted his ambitious child care and infrastructure plans as allowing Americans to “own the future.”

Biden was speaking at the NJ Transit Meadowlands Maintenance Complex, before an audience of 50 elected officials and labor leaders.

Biden first stopped in on Pre-K classrooms at an elementary school in Plainfield, New Jersey, chatting with students about their schoolwork and mutual love of Legos, but left without any overt discussion of universal Pre-K, though his plan would invest heavily in early childhood education.

In his remarks, Biden touched on the glaring need for infrastructure investment, highlighting the problems of the area’s aging Portal Bridge – a major Northeast corridor thoroughfare that causes frequent massive delays for commuters.

“Aging infrastructure like this is more than an inconvenience or a nuisance. It’s an impediment to America’s global competitiveness,” Biden said.

“This initiative is about betting on America, about believing in America, about believing in the American people,” he added.

Democrats are trying to wrap up talks on the social services and climate change package now being eyed at $1.75 trillion.
