WATCH LIVE: Mikie Sherrill inaugurated as New Jersey's governor

Mikie Sherrill, the first Democratic woman to win a New Jersey governor's race, will be sworn in Tuesday as the state's 57th chief executive.

Sherrill, a former federal prosecutor and Navy helicopter pilot, previously represented New Jersey's 11th Congressional District in the U.S. House.

Dale Caldwell will be sworn in as the state's lieutenant governor. Caldwell, a pastor at Covenant United Methodist Church in Plainfield, has been president of Centenary University since 2023.

Sherrill beat Republican challenger, former state Rep. Jack Ciattarelli, in the November gubernatorial election by about 14 percentage points.

Sherrill will succeed Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy and serve a four-year term.
