National Guard to support or augment security for large-scale events in the District,” Ryder said during a news briefing. “Activated guardsmen will remain under the control of the DC National Guard” and remain activated until Nov. 13, he said. Ryder said 60 National Guard members from six states had been activated by governors. Another 600 soldiers from 17 states were prepared for activation. The Associated Press on Monday reported that Nevada and Washington governors had put some of their National Guard members on standby ahead of Election day.
