On Wednesday, several reports suggested he spoke with the Russian ambassador during President Donald Trump’s campaign, but he denied contact with them during his Senate confirmation hearing. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-NY, is expected to echo calls for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to recuse himself from a Justice Department investigation into Russian interference, after he reportedly failed to disclose two separate meetings with Russia’s ambassador to the United States. During his confirmation hearings earlier this year, Sessions appeared to contradict his statements, under oath, to Congress. When asked whether anyone from the Donald Trump campaign was in contact with Russia, Sessions said he was “unaware of those activities.” Sessions had been an early supporter of Trump during his presidential bid.
