Navarro had served a four-month sentence after he was found guilty of criminal contempt of Congress for failing to cooperate with the investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. “I went to prison so you don’t have to,” Navarro told the cheering crowd. “I am your wake-up call.” Navarro spoke on a day of the convention devoted to foreign policy and national security, as well as Sen. J.D. Vance’s formal acceptance of the vice presidential nomination. Former President Donald Trump named Vance as his running mate Monday. During the convention, delegates will adopt a party platform and Trump will address the convention Thursday.
