Trump said health insurance companies have “gotten rich on billions of dollars of money that should go directly to the people,” claiming that the “unaffordable” Affordable Care Act, an Obama-era law, was created to make these companies rich. His remarks come as millions of Americans who get health insurance through the ACA prepare to pay twice as much on average in premiums next year, after Congress could not agree on how or whether to extend subsidies set to expire at the end of the month.
