Al Cardenas: ‘Without Florida, Mitt Can’t Win’

Tea party activists, social activists, Super Pac independent groups. The Republican party encompasses all these communities, said Al Cardenas of the American Conservative Union in this interview with NewsHour correspondent Jeffrey Brown.

Republicans agree mostly on a set of values and almost always on fiscal issues, he said: “Like any party, we’re a combination of a lot of people, a lot of interests, brought together for a singular purpose,”

The two discuss Romney’s vision, his charity work and whether or not Republicans are “reserved.”

Also, the importance of Florida, which can’t be underestimated, Cardenas said:

“It’s a toss-up state once again,” he said. “You know, I think we’ll find if we win this race, that there was wisdom in bringing this here to Tampa.”
