Friday, September 28, 2018 (Washington, DC) — PBS NewsHour will premiere That Moment When on October 2, a new weekly series produced exclusively for Facebook Watch that tells the behind-the-scenes stories of successful people – some of whom you will recognize and others who you will be introduced to here. Hosted by Steve Goldbloom, That Moment When will offer intimate and revealing insights of how specific guests have made it this far in their personal and professional journeys – exploring a critical moment of change – the failures, motivations, and pivotal moments that made individuals who they are today.
That Moment When will publish on the series Facebook Watch Page each Tuesday at 3pm ET beginning October 2. Forthcoming episodes will include interviews with SoulCycle and FlyWheel co-founder Ruth Zukerman, founder of Black Girls Code Kimberly Bryant, Stockton, Calif. Mayor Michael Tubbs, American ultramarathon runner and author Robin Arzon, and founder of the Equal Justice Initiative Bryan Stevenson.
‘That Moment When’ host Steve Goldbloom
“People are fascinating, and there is so much we can learn from examining the critical moments in our lives that alter the course of our careers and ultimately shape who we become,” said Goldbloom. “I’m thrilled to produce this series for Facebook Watch and continue my long and meaningful collaboration with PBS NewsHour.”
The series will be executive produced by PBS NewsHour executive producer and WETA SVP Sara Just and senior content and special projects producer James Blue, with production support from PBS NewsHour’s broadcast and digital units as well as Goldbloom’s production house Second Peninsula.
“That Moment When and Steve Goldbloom will be our guide to some of the most fascinating stories and people,” said Just. “Everyone has a moment that redirected their path – this series will take you there. That Moment When…it all changed.”
The series is a part of an initiative Facebook announced earlier this year, funding news shows from publishers for Facebook Watch to test a destination for news content on the platform.
NewsHour’s launch of That Moment When follows its 2017 foray into Facebook Watch with Let Me Explain, the 5-part series that explored provocative ideas and differing viewpoints, including episodes with parenting author Wendy Thomas Russell on why she believes timeouts to discipline children does more harm than good and with Washington Post fashion critic Robin Givan on why being pretty isn’t enough to be a fashion model.
