“Witness to the Siege, A PBS NewsHour Special” to Air on PBS

ARLINGTON, VA  (January 12, 2021) — In “Witness to the Siege, A PBS NewsHour Special,” PBS NewsHour anchor and managing editor Judy Woodruff talks to Capitol Hill correspondent Lisa Desjardins, senior national correspondent Amna Nawaz and White House correspondent Yamiche Alcindor about what they saw as they reported on the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol. The special, originally taped as a PBS NewsHour Podcast, will air on PBS stations across the country beginning Tuesday, January 12, 2021 (check local listings).

On January 6, Desjardins was the only journalist reporting live on television from the halls of the Capitol, during which she relayed the news of the mob breaking in as it happened and interviewed several of them live (Video Link 1 and Video Link 2). Nawaz reported that afternoon from outside the U.S. Capitol, while Alcindor that day and evening reported from the White House. PBS NewsHour’s broadcast special and streaming coverage on January 6 went from 12:30 – 10:30 pm ET.
