We uncovered this 1985 piece by Elizabeth Brackett that captures a tumultuous time in the company’s history. In the report, Apple’s then-CEO John Sculley, who was hired by Jobs and later fired Jobs, said: “I believe there is no such thing as a home computer market.” In fact, shortly after this report aired, Jobs was ousted from Apple in May 1985, only to return more than a decade later — after launching several of his own projects — to set the company on course for its recent successes.
