JULIAN MANYON: Taliban armor has appeared in the streets of Kabul as the fundamentalists prepare for confrontation with the United States. The Taliban have now made it clear that they will not bow to American pressure. At a chaotic press conference at their embassy in Islambad they threatened Holy War if attacked and rejected President Bush's demand to surrender Osama bin Laden. JULIAN MANYON: Are you willing to hand Osama bin Laden to the United States or not? SPOKESMAN: Without evidence, no. JULIAN MANYON: The Taliban say that evidence of Osama bin Laden's guilt should be given to a neutral government. And they warn that countries attacking Afghanistan have always come to grief. SUHAIL SHAHEEN, Taliban Deputy Ambassador, Pakistan: Make no mistake. Afghanistan as it was in the past, Great Britain came, the Red Army came. Afghanistan won. JULIAN MANYON: Reporter: In spite of what appeared to be clear reservations inside of Afghanistan itself it seems that the Taliban leadership is unable to disentangle itself from its commitment to Osama bin Laden.Today the anti-American demonstrations in Pakistan became more violent. In Karachi two protesters were shot dead by police during scattered clashes.A shopkeeper was lynched by the mob for trying to open while others went on strike. In Pashallah, demonstrators filled the streets chanting "Long live Osama" and "Crush America."A tribal leader from near the border announced the traitors are cutting the price of guns for the Jihad.
