BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham, world's largest Hindu temple outside India, opens in Robbinsville in New Jersey, United States on October 10, 2023. The BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham campus covers roughly 180 acres in the town just east of the state capitol in Trenton. The unique Hindu temple design includes 1 main shrine, 12 sub-shrines, 9 shikhars (spire-like structure) and 9 pyramidal shikhars. There are around 10,000 statues inside and outside the temple, which was built between 2011 to 2023. Nearly 2 million cubic feet of stone was used in the construction that was brought from different countries including Bulgaria, Greece, Italy and Turkiye.
