Shia teenagers were killed by a suicide bomber at an education center in Kabul on Wednesday. Meanwhile, residents of the city of Ghazni began to pick up the pieces after a five-day siege between the Taliban and the Afghan Army.

Afghanistan's U.N.-backed elections commission threw out ballots Thursday from last month's unresolved and controversial election, saying there was evidence of fraud in a number of polling stations in certain provinces.

Taliban militants briefly captured an Afghan district government headquarters in the Ghazni province 100 miles southwest of Kabul Thursday, killing the district mayor, police chief and three policemen during several hours of fighting.
