Former Ohio Congressman James Traficant was sentenced to eight years in prison Tuesday for accepting bribes and kickbacks. The former nine-term Democrat was expelled from the House of Representatives last week by a 420-1 vote.
Members of the House of Representatives voted by an overwhelming majority late Wednesday to expel Rep. James A. Traficant, an Ohio Democrat who faces a possible prison term on felony corruption and bribery convictions.
A House panel found U.S. Rep. Jim Traficant (D-Ohio) guilty of ethics violations following his criminal conviction on charges of bribery, tax evasion and fraud.
