Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura appointed Independence Party member Dean Barkley on Monday to finish the term of late Sen. Paul Wellstone.

Sen. Paul Wellstone, the two-term Democratic senator from Minnesota, was killed Friday when a chartered plane he was aboard crashed as it attempted to land in bad weather in the northern part of the state.
