Google faces another antitrust trial a month after its search engine was declared a monopoly

One month after a judge declared Google’s search engine an illegal monopoly, the tech giant is defending against another antitrust lawsuit that threatens to break up the company.

Google has largely defended its AI overviews feature, saying it is typically accurate. But the head of Google's search business acknowledged in a blog post that there were some odd, inaccurate or unhelpful responses.

Google has disclosed plans to infuse its dominant search engine with more advanced artificial-intelligence technology. The effort is in response to one of the biggest threats to its long-established position as the internet's main gateway.

EU court rules in favor of Google on search engine issue

The case stems from a 2014 ruling that said people have the right to control what appears when their name is searched online. The court said that right does not extend beyond the European Union.
