Democrats Christian Menefee and Amanda Edwards advanced to a runoff Tuesday night in a special election for a U.S. House seat that has been vacant since March and will narrow the GOP's slim majority once a winner is sworn in.

Turner had been in Washington on Tuesday and attended President Donald Trump's address before Congress.

Sylvester Turner told the PBS NewsHour that he believed of all the candidates in the race, Michael Bloomberg is best equipped to improve public education and close the wealth gap.
